Sweet Jayne bills itself as "Columbias best unknown classic rock and blues band." After three years, the band
continues to fly under the radar but is still treating audiences across Mid-Missouri to its unique sound. The group will head
to Easley this weekend for a set at Coopers Landing.
Michelle Miller provides lead vocals for the six-piece band and also plays backup percussion. Miller grew up singing and
acting, but she realized singing was her true calling after hearing the music of Patsy Cline, according to her bio on the
bands Web site.
After performing with the Sedalia band Fast Eddie for a time, Miller found her way to Sweet Jayne. Other members of Sweet
Jayne are guitarist Chuck Van Cleave, bassist Mark Brinkerhoff, percussionist John Braun and guitarist/vocalists Michael Mazza
and Sam Botts.
The band has released a recording, which includes six original songs and a blues cover.
